Program Registration Requirements
SAPlist U is open to anyone who has successfully completed a SAP Qualification Training, and a SAP Exam , and who is a fully-qualified Substance Abuse Professional in accordance with 49 CFR part 40.281.

Content and Learning Objectives of SAPlist U
As required by DOT’s federal law (49 CFR part 40.281(d)), SAPlist U includes new technologies, interpretations, recent guidance, rule changes, and other information about developments in SAP practice, pertaining to the DOT program.
Learning objectives are:
- To improve a SAP’s knowledge of DOT’s regulations
- To assist SAPs in gaining familiarity with federal regulations, including 49 CFR parts 40, 382, 219, 199, 14 CFR part 120, 46 CFR part 16, and “SAP Guidelines”, all of which are critical to a SAP’s ability to function effectively and provide SAP services that comply with DOT’s regulations
- To provide required 12 hours of continuing education which SAPs must obtain every 3 years in order to maintain qualification as a Substance Abuse Professional
